FELGOR Check

Catches manufacturing defects at inspection time, on the inspector's phone

The problem

Visual inspection depends on experienced inspectors, and experienced inspectors are expensive, scarce, and tire. A small defect caught early costs little; the same defect caught at assembly costs ten times more; caught at the customer it costs a hundred. And in high-volume plants, the inspection bottleneck slows the whole line — or pushes the inspector to rush, letting defects through.

The solution

FELGOR Check turns the inspector's phone into a lens that recognizes recurring defects. Inspector photographs the part during the inspection they would already be doing. The system replies in seconds with an annotated image highlighting every potential defect, with a confidence level. The inspector decides — the system only points to where to look.

Capabilities

What the product does

  • Detects the recurring defect types that drive most of the plant's rework
  • Reads specification markings on the part and cross-checks against what should be there
  • Annotated image highlights every suspicious spot with a confidence level
  • Works offline — inspector walks Wi-Fi-less areas without losing data
  • Multi-tenant for groups with several plants — each with its own models and history
  • Inspection history per part, per inspector and per defect type

Where it applies

It's not a vertical product

The engine is the same. What changes is the catalog trained for each context. Below are the sectors where we've already seen it make sense — but the use cases don't stop here.

  • Steel fabrication and structural metalwork
  • Plastic injection and molding
  • Electronics and PCB
  • Glass and ceramics
  • Packaging (glass, aluminum, cardboard)
  • Auto-parts and mechanical components
  • Textile (weaving and dyeing control)

How it works

Day to day

  1. 1

Inspector photographs the part on their phone during inspection

  2. 2

System processes the image and surfaces suspicious spots in seconds

  3. 3

Inspector confirms or dismisses each flag — their call

  4. 4

Result is logged, feeds the history and improves the model

Gains

What changes in the operation

  • Inspector looks where it matters — attention goes to the risk
  • Defects caught at the right moment, before the expensive stage
  • Junior inspector closes the gap with the senior much faster
  • Plant stops paying for rework that was invisible before

Who this is for

Any production line where recurring visual defects cost a lot if caught late. The engine is horizontal: only the trained defect catalog changes. The same technology detects cold welds in a metal structure, flash on a plastic part, cracks on a glass bottle, or tears on a fabric roll.

Works best when:

  • There's a closed set of recurring defects (not rare, one-off ones)
  • Defects are visible to the eye on the finished or intermediate part
  • The plant has a human inspector doing this inspection today (we don't replace destructive testing or ultrasound)

If the defect is internal (microscopic crack, material bubble), the product doesn't apply.

What FELGOR Check isn't

Not a certifier. Inspection stays with the human inspector — the system is support, not replacement. Doesn't replace non-destructive testing. Catches what is visible, not what is internal. Doesn't promise zero defect. Promises to make the defect visible before the expensive stage.

How it fits in

The PWA installs on the inspector's phone. Models are trained on the client's specific defects — the system learns what counts as "defect" for that plant, instead of trying to serve generically. Works offline because shop floors don't always have Wi-Fi.
